Have we mention how generous the food loving community in LA are and how we're so happy to be a part of it? From the Eat My Blog bake sale to Taste of the Nation LA, Angelenos love to come together to raise money for a cause, and what better way to do it then with a celebration of food? There's two events coming up we're really excited about and love to share with you. On Saturday August 14th, the 8th annual tasting benefit Plate by Plate hosted by Project by Project, a national non profit Asian Pacific American organization will continue this generous tradition.
Each year Project by Project chooses a community partner and Plate by Plate is the signature fundraising event. This year, the 2010 partner is the Health Justice Network, a community of collaborative API voices working to advance the right to quality healthcare and promote the development of community leadership and advocacy. All net proceeds from admission and auction purchases will benefit the Health Justice Network to connect, educate, and empower individuals and organizations that work in and with the Asian Pacific Islander (API) communities.
This event will bring together restauranteurs, star chefs, bloggers, and the entire to community to enjoy tastings from over 25 restaurants including JiRaffe, Mo-Chica, The Foundry, Nobu, Craft, Bistro LQ, Charlie Palmers to name a few. There will be libations from close to 20 vendors including POM, Rock Sake, and Robert Oatley Vineyards. There will also be live entertainment, a silent auction, and of course, the stars of LA will be out enforce.
The event will be held at the Califonia Science Center from 6 pm for VIP and 7 pm for general admission. Don't miss out on this fabulous event! Purchase your tickets here!

On a similar generous note, we're also super excited about the LA Street Food Fest on Saturday, Aug. 24th, 4-9 pm at the famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The festival will feature over 60 vendors including LA's hottest gourmet trucks, old school carts and stands, celeb chefs and LA’s best restaurants serving from white tented booths on the pristine green field of the Rose Bowl.
There will be cook off judged by celebrity chef Susan Feninger and live entertainment. We also love that there is a limited (5,000) number of tickets to prevent long lines and you can choose from a picnic table, to a shaded lounge area to enjoy your meal instead of some parking lot. Perhaps we'll be a football along and relive some of Michigan Wolverines greatest moments in the Rosebowl... :)
Tickets are pre-sale only for $45 for general admission and $65 for VIP which includes early entry and VIP parking lot. Both tickets includes drinks and samplings from as many vendors as you like. A portion of the proceeds will also go to St. Vincents Meals on Wheels and Wooly School Gardens. This promises to be an amazing event and highlight of the summer!
